Te Manawa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Queenstown

We are instructors of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) classes in Queenstown. We teach Striking, submission grappling and self-defence classes, where you learn how to protect yourself. We also offer kids classes, where children can learn a fun and exciting contact sport.

We are a Caio Terra Association affiliate, headed by husband and wife team, Brent and Paula Te Kawa, who have spent most of their Jiu-Jitsu years traveling the world to train, gain knowledge and compete in some of the largest Jiu Jitsu tournaments in the world.

We offer modern sports jiu jitsu, self defense, women only classes and also kids classes.  Check out the schedule for classes.

We have been privileged to have 5th degree Blackbelt Professor Rodrigo Teixeira as our lead instructor for 1 year, check out his bio to see how lucky we have been to have access to his knowledge and experience.

Our 2nd lead instructor was Jess Fraser who was one of the first  Australian females that have made Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a career, she is an outstanding BJJ athlete as well as community leader. Though she is an accomplished athlete (earning her black belt in a record 6 years) she is most well known for creating and leading the internationally recognised group, Austrailian Girls in Gi. Jess has now headed back to Aussie but will come back for visits.
